There is everything from The Great Christmas Bake Off on Channel 4 to Royal Carols: Together at Christmas on ITV 1. Detectorists is back for a special episode, and Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse will have go fishing once again. Join Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross both on New Year’s Eve as well as a new Taskmaster treat and Sean Lock stand up special will keep you entertained on New Year’s Day.
Christmas Eve seems to be the day for top TV shows this year with both Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing and The Great Christmas Bake Off airing around 8PM in the evening. The Royal Family have a Together at Christmas special sharing at 7PM on ITV1. Families can also sit down and watch festive films, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Home Alone.
King Charles III will be giving his first Christmas message on BBC One, BBC Two and ITV 1 at 3PM on Christmas Day. Two Marilyn Monroe films including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes are on BBC Two. Channel 5 showcase Anthony Stewart Head in The Canterville Ghost, a two-parter that continues onto Boxing Day.
BBC Four are remembering Robbie Coltrane at 9PM on Boxing Day, but at the same time on BBC Two, a special of the sitcom Detectorists airs. Big Fat Quiz Of The Year is back on Channel 4 and families can sit and watch the classic Mary Poppins on BBC One in the afternoon.
There are two great documentaries on TV at 9PM on the 27th of December; one about George Harrison on Sky Arts, and another about the success of the Lionesses on Sky Documentaries. Miriam Margolyes heads to Australia on BBC Two at 9PM, and First Dates at Christmas is on Channel 4 at the same time.
One for dog lovers on BBC One at 8PM with Dogs in the Wild: Meet the Family. A nostalgic noughties flick A Cinderella story is on Channel 5 at 9:45AM.
A very different broadcast on Channel 4 at 9PM on the 29th of December, Prince Andrew: The Musical. John Bishop’s End Of Year Show promises to be equally funny on ITV 1. Spielberg’s BFG is on in the afternoon on BBC One.
Susan Calman is back cruising on Channel 5 at 8PM on the 30th of December. Keira Knightley’s first film Bend It Like Beckham is on Channel 4 in the middle of the day and Jason Manford entertains from 10:30PM on BBC One.
It’s The Last Leg of the Year at 9PM on Channel 4 on New Year’s Eve followed by Adam Hills’ stand-up special. Pixar greats, Coco and Inside Out follow each other on BBC One in the middle of the day. You can see the New Year in with Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross on BBC one and ITV one.
It’s a Great New Year Bake Off is at 7:40PM on Channel 4 on New Year’s Day followed by Taskmaster’s New Year’s treat. Both Dirty Dancing and Gremlins are on for a bit of fun early evening.
